Introduction

Ascentis Anglia ESOL International qualifications are designed for non-native speakers that wish to improve their English language skills through internationally recognised qualifications. The qualifications align to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and the English Qualification and Credit Framework as illustrated below:

Level 3
The Level 3 Certificate is aimed at candidates of a near native level of proficiency that wish to demonstrate that they can understand and responded to explicit and implied meaning in a broad variety of familiar and unfamiliar contexts and settings, and that they can express themselves clearly, appropriately and accurately.

Grades A – E

Level 2
Candidates of a proficient level that wish to demonstrate that they can understand both implied and explicit meaning in a diverse range of contexts and settings, and that they can provide accounts, attitudes and opinions clearly and accurately.

Candidates of an intermediate level that wish to demonstrate that they can understand and respond effectively to information and viewpoints on a range of topics.

Entry 3
Candidates of an intermediate level that wish to demonstrate that they can understand and respond effectively in English to information and points of view on subjects that they are familiar with.

The qualifications develop the broad range of language skills required to live, study and work in an English-speaking environment and are recognised by both universities and employers.

Ascentis Anglia ESOL International qualifications are available to any approved centre in any country throughout the world.

Unit certification is available for all units.

Assessment

The Reading & Writing and Listening units are assessed through external assessments written by and provided by Ascentis Anglia ESOL International. Assessment may only take place during predetermined assessment periods that occur on specified occasions throughout the academic year.

The Speaking unit is assessed through an oral assessment. This assessment may be carried out internally within the centre or by an external examiner, depending on the centre’s geographical location.
